Zachary Carlstrom
Zach graduated from Wyoming Catholic College in 2016 where he was the recipient of the Frassati Award for excellence in outdoor education. As COR’s first full-time staff member, Zach has worked extensively not only instructing courses but also developing much of its programming and ministry vision. Zach has a passion for wilderness ministry and its power in the new evangelization to bring renewal and new life.
He is a graduate of the American Mountain Guide Association, the American Avalanche Association, AIARE, American Canoe Association, SROM, the Wilderness Medicine Institute at NOLS, SOLO, and maintains skills in rope rescue, avalanche safety, and swift water rescue. In addition to his work with COR, He is an active SAR member, previous ski patroller, and adjunct instructor for other universities. He has instructed backpacking, climbing, ice climbing, backcountry skiing, canyoneering, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, canoeing, and sea kayaking with experience in the Rocky Mountain West, desert west, and internationally.
Zach and his wife (and fellow COR missionary) Sarah live in Lander, Wyoming with their children Judah and Esther. Zach is an avid backcountry skier and climber, but his many skills and personal pastimes include woodworking, hunting, and teaching his kids to love the outdoors too.
